About Us
MEOW & Friends
MEOW & Friends is a animal adoption service firm working directly with veterinarians, animal shelters, and
not-for-profit organizations in NYC and Long Island in order to connect people with animals that need good
homes! Our mission is to find loving homes for the many animals in NYC that are currently being sheltered.
MEOW & Friends has partnered with North Shore Animal League America, the largest no-kill shelter in the United
States, and is currently negotiating with All Care Animal Clinic, to help us in our mission. Both organizations will provide cats and dogs who need good homes and MEOW will act as adoption agency. NSALA's website link can be found on our website on the NSALA page.
MEOW & Friends will provide free advertising service to NSALA and all other contracted shelters through our website, Certified VE Advertising firms, social media, and local newspapers. In addition, we will also incorporate North Shore’s Mutt-i-grees program in our Virtual Enterprise. The Mutt-i-grees® Curriculum provides education on the care and nurturing of former shelter animals. In addition, it is designed to enhance students’ social and emotional competence by
teaching and reinforcing critical skills that are the foundation of academic success, including empathy,
cooperation, and ethical decision-making. These skills help students care about themselves, the people
around them, animals, and the environment.
Please help MEOW & Friends in our mission to place as many cats as possible so that we can succeed in
Making EveryOne Winners!

How Cats Help Humans
Most of the time we as pet lovers help rescue homeless or abandoned cats and kittens by sending them to the vet for medical attention, having them spayed or neutered, and finding them good homes. But there are times when a cat helps us. Cats are great companions. People who live alone usually find that their cat provides them with comfort and improves their lifestyle.
Cats can form a strong bond with their owner. When a cat sits on a person’s lap or cuddles near his or her chest, their purr vibrations give a healing touch to those who are stressed. Cats also have the ability to sense danger and inform their owner of a harmful situation, such as a fire or carbon monoxide leak, so that the family can escape in time. Some cats are even able to predict medical traumas such as heart attack or diabetic coma.
Recent studies show that cats can help heal medical illnesses in humans. These cats are called therapy cats. Therapy cats must have a very good temperament, show no aggression toward other animals, and be confident and comfortable with strangers. Therapy cats allow a patient to cuddle and pet them. This helps reduce the patient’s pain, lower blood pressure, and improve breathing. For stroke patients, petting a cat during a therapy session helps improve the mobility of their arms and hands.
Finally, bonding with therapy cats helps depressed people recover faster. Those who have experienced an emotional trauma, such as the loss of a loved one, are comforted by cats and are able to heal their emotional wounds more easily.

How Dogs Help Humans
Dogs have long been known to make great companions, but did you know that they actually improve your mood? Research has shown that it only takes a mere 15–30 minutes with your pet to feel more relaxed and calm.
Dog owners have been found to have lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, fewer heart attacks, and according to a study by the British Journal of Health (2004), dog owners also have the added benefit of having fewer medical problems than those without pets.
An added unexpected benefit of having a dog is that he encourages you to exercise more! Taking your dog on walks and throwing the ball around makes for good exercise. Apart from the dog walking alone, dog owners were also found to achieve more advanced stages of movement compared to those who own dogs and do not walk them.kids who grow up with dogs in the home have fewer allergies and are less likely to have eczema.
