Maxine is a playful pup with a lot of charm — and one very special need. Sweet Maxine has a condition called megaesophagus, which is a dilation of the esophagus. The esophagus is the tube through which food travels from the mouth to the stomach. Because a portion of Maxine’s esophagus is enlarged, food and other fluids like saliva can accumulate. To alleviate her issues, Maxine eats in a special chair designed to make it easier for her to swallow and digest her favorite meals. Maxine loves people of all ages, and needs a patient adopter who understands her condition and is ready to give her the love, care, and attention she requires.
